Fall is here and the weather is getting colder, so it’s a good thing that Netflix is providing subscribers with a slew of new streaming options to watch in the comfort of their homes this November. From original shows to top-notch films, Netflix has a massive number of compelling offerings lined up. Read on for all the highlights, then scroll down for a full list of what’s new on Netflix.
Several popular house-produced series return this November, and some much-anticipated new series debut, providing viewers with plenty of binge-watching options. Most notable are the sixth and final season of award-winning political drama House of Cards, the sixth season of culinary competition series The Great British Baking Show, and the fourth season of Narcos, which begins anew with a fresh story arc in Narcos: Mexico. Netflix original films Outlaw King and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs also premiere in November.
The streaming giant will also add a long list of compelling films not produced in-house, including a mix of new and old sci-fi films like 2008’s found-footage thriller Cloverfield and the 1977 classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Our top picks for November
‘House of Cards’
After a tumultuous break that involved series lead Kevin Spacey being fired from the award-winning show due to allegations of sexual assault, House of Cards returns for its sixth and final season with lead actress Robin Wright’s character, Claire Underwood, firmly entrenched as the new U.S. president. Her power and legacy is threatened, however, by forces both within her administration and outside of it — including former allies and new enemies aligned against her.
‘Narcos: Mexico’
After three seasons that chronicled the rise and fall of drug lord Pablo Escobar and his rivals, Narcos hits the reset button for its fourth season, which explores the growth of the illegal drug trade in Mexico during the 1980s. Diego Luna and Michael Pea star in the series as a drug trafficker building an empire and the DEA agent gunning to take him down, respectively. The action has moved from Colombia to Mexico, but you can expect the same level of drama and compelling performances in this new chapter of the hit show.
‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’
This Western anthology film is written, directed, and produced by Joel and Ethan Coen, the award-winning brothers whose surname has become synonymous with great filmmaking. As is the case for most films from the Coen brothers, the cast of the film is packed with familiar faces, including Tim Blake Nelson as the titular gunslinger and musician Buster Scruggs, as well as Liam Neeson, James Franco, Zoe Kazan, Tyne Daly, and Tom Waits. If it’s anything like the Coens’ prior films, you can expect a beautifully shot film that’s as quirky as it is compelling.
As usual, November is your last chance to watch a variety of shows and movies before they leave Netflix. Be sure to catch the first three Jurassic Park films, as well as indie horror hit Oculus before they disappear.
Below is the full list of everything new coming to the streamer in the month of November, and everything going away. The bolded names signify more of our favorites to help you load up your binge queue.
